A big part of Jeremy Corbyn’s election pitch in Britain is claiming that the Conservative party wants to sell the National Health Service to the United States. That’s nonsense, says Donald Trump. The president told reporters in London that even if the NHS was ‘handed to us on a silver platter, we want nothing to do with it’. He said:

‘I have nothing to do with it, never even thought about it. We are going to have a great healthcare system…right now, we have made it very good. In this country, no, they have to work that up for themselves. We have absolutely…I don’t even know where that rumor started. We have absolutely nothing to do with it. And we wouldn’t want to. If you handed it to us on a silver platter, we want nothing to do with it.’

Cockburn thinks he could help Trump with working out where that rumor did start. The last time Trump was in London back in June, the president told a press conference ‘when you’re dealing in trade, everything is on the table’ – including the NHS. It seems that Trump is for once on good behavior this time around. But will it last?
